The Art of Inca Stone Masonry
|
Federico Coscio is a contemporary painter who lives in Cusco, Peru. He owns and operates the Arte Contemporari gallery in the San Blas area of Cusco where he exhibits his paintings. Federico has exhibited widely in Peru, and internationally in France, Holland, Spain, Australia, Argentina and Columbia. Ancient people believed that the Earth is a conscious, evolving being, capable of communicating through doorways of stone. The Incas constructed architectural sites with massive stones fused with natural rock and other formations found in nature. The Incan cosmology is represented in the stone masonry and design of these sites. Federico Coscio creates paintings with representations of stone masonry that are inspired by Pre-Inca architecture--Inca stones with ancient, spiritual themes.
